THE government will double assistance for repairing disaster-damaged homes to RM10,000 and allocate RM490 million to the Border Control and Protection Agency as Budget 2027 strengthens national security, cybercrime prevention and disaster preparedness.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri announced today that under Budget 2027 he Home Ministry and Defence Ministry will each receive RM22 billion, with RM7.1 billion earmarked for the purchase and maintenance of assets used by the armed forces, police and uniformed agencies under the Home Ministry.

New facilities will include the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency's state headquarters in Tanjung Kupang, Johor; the General Operations Force's 19th Battalion complex in Cheras; an Immigration Department office in Keningau, Sabah; and three new police stations in Sungai Rambai, Melaka, Tanjung Malim, Perak, and Batu Lintang, Sri Aman, Sarawak.

Border security will be tightened, including mandatory drug and alcohol testing for pilots and flight crew. A total of 48 new body and baggage scanners will be installed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Penang International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has blocked more than 5.7 billion scam-related calls and SMS messages.

To help the public identify suspicious activity before making transactions, the National Scam Response Centre will develop an artificial intelligence application to check potentially fraudulent telephone numbers, bank accounts and links.

The police's D11 division will strengthen the Malaysia Internet Crime Against Children system with advanced analytical capabilities to detect perpetrators and networks involved in child sexual exploitation earlier.

The communications regulator will also intensify its Safe Internet Campaign in schools, focusing on cyberbullying and child exploitation.

Disaster mitigation will receive further attention, with new flood prevention projects planned for 2027. The government has completed six flood mitigation projects worth RM336 million, while 82 more are being implemented according to schedule.

New projects will include flood mitigation works in Kuching, Phase Two of the Sungai Golok Integrated Flood Mitigation Project in Kelantan, and the Sungai Kemaman Integrated Flood Mitigation Project in Terengganu.

Nearly RM320 million will be allocated to repair and upgrade slopes, drains and drainage systems in local authority areas nationwide.

The National Disaster Management Agency will receive RM260 million, while the government will acquire 17 amphibious rescue boats to improve the Civil Defence Force's emergency response capabilities.

The GDRN initiative, supported by GLIC and GLC foundations, will continue helping disaster victims through RM20 million in matching grants.

The measures are aimed at improving the country's ability to prevent and respond to security threats, cybercrime and natural disasters. - October 9, 2026
