GOVERNMENT contracts for public infrastructure projects must be disclosed transparently from next year to enable Malaysians to monitor spending and assess contractors’ performance, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
He said the disclosure would cover the total construction cost, land value, companies awarded the contracts and progress in completing the projects.
“Access to detailed information should be provided on the cost of building schools, land prices and the parties responsible for implementing the projects.
“This will allow the public to monitor progress and assess for themselves whether construction is being carried out properly by the appointed contractors,” he said.
Anwar was speaking at the dinner and opening ceremony of the International Future Leaders Summit (iFUTURE) 2026 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
He said transparent governance and accountability in government contracting had helped create room for increased allocations for education, healthcare, gig workers and young graduates.
He added that the government had also raised the minimum wage three times during its tenure. - October 12, 2026
