A MAN was charged in the Kuantan Magistrate's Court today with the murder of a female student at a house on Jalan Air Putih 2 in Kuantan, on October 6.

The accused, F. Alan Stevekumar, 19, nodded to indicate he understood the charge after it was read out, but no plea was recorded before Magistrate Tuan Ruzuaini Tuan Lah.

According to the charge, the man is accused of intentionally committing murder by causing the death of M. Elisa Jonova, 19.

The alleged act took place at a house on Jalan Air Putih 2 between 4:32 am and 4:55 am on October 6.

The charge was brought under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, the accused faces the death penalty or imprisonment for a term of 30 to 40 years; if not sentenced to death, he must also be punished with no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane.

The prosecution was led by Pahang State Prosecution Director Mohd Sabri Othman, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel.

The court subsequently fixed November 12 for the next mention of the case.

Media reports previously stated that the female student was found dead—allegedly murdered by her boyfriend—at a house on Jalan Air Putih.

Kuantan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said police received a report from the suspect, who informed them that an altercation had occurred between him and his girlfriend.

Following this, police arrested the man at the scene and remanded him for further investigation. – October 12, 2026
