PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim joined about 63,000 fans at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday night for Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza’s Gema Bumantara concert, where concertgoers remained despite persistent rain.

Anwar, wearing a raincoat, watched the performance alongside other fans, seated beside Siti’s husband, Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa.

Siti acknowledged the Prime Minister’s presence and thanked him for attending despite his demanding official schedule.

“We are honoured to welcome our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Thank you for taking the time to attend and enliven my biggest traditional music concert,” she said after performing a duet with guest singer Haziq Rosebi.

The concert, which began at 8.30pm, featured more than 30 classic songs over three hours, with traditional dances, wayang kulit shadow puppetry and heritage costumes showcasing the richness of Nusantara culture.

Joking about the rain, Siti described the event as a long-held dream realised at the country’s largest stadium.

“Whatever happens, this is a dream come true for me. I am not even sure when this dream could be realised again.

“Finally, it has happened here, at the country’s largest stadium,” she said, drawing cheers and applause from the audience.

Other performers included Noraniza Idris, Haziq Rosebi, Indonesian singer Lesti Kejora and King Nassar.

Gema Bumantara was held nine months after Siti’s Legacy 30 concert at the same venue on Jan 10, which attracted 65,000 fans.

The concert also aimed to strengthen appreciation for traditional music among different generations and promote the shared cultural heritage of the Nusantara region. - October 18, 2026
