RAPIDKL and the Transport Ministry have been called on to urgently address persistent train overcrowding after commuters complained of packed services disrupting their daily journeys.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called on Rapid KL, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook and the ministry to take immediate action, following a complaint on Threads about the lack of space on trains.

He said recurring overcrowding was affecting the daily routines of ordinary Malaysians and called for greater responsiveness from the authorities.

"This happens frequently and inevitably disrupts the daily routines of ordinary Malaysians. We must be more attentive and take action," he said.

Anwar was responding to Threads user @siti.anisahj, who urged the authorities to provide more train coaches, saying services were packed with passengers every day.

The user also highlighted the difficulties faced by commuters who encounter congestion whether travelling by road or rail.

"Every day is like this. The roads are jammed when driving, and the trains are full," she said. - October 30, 2026
