THE government is prepared to consider calls to disclose the full report of a special committee that investigated allegations concerning former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki's shareholdings.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the proposal would be considered if there was a need to make the report public.
She said any decision must take into account existing legal provisions, particularly those governing personal data protection, the confidentiality of investigation documents, asset declaration records and the interests of parties involved.
"Any announcement will be made by the Chief Secretary to the Government's Office, as stated in its media statement on March 31, should there be any developments or official decisions on the matter that warrant public notification," she said.
Azalina said the allegations concerning Azam's shareholdings and asset declarations had been examined by the Special Investigation Committee, which was established on Feb 13.
She added that the committee had completed its investigation independently, transparently and professionally, and submitted its findings to the Cabinet.
Azalina was responding to a question from Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) on the committee's findings, possible action against Azam and whether the government would release the report.
The written reply was published on the Parliament portal today. - October 30, 2026
