PAKATAN Harapan (PH) has denied allegations that it was involved in the Registrar of Societies' (RoS) suspension of Perikatan Nasional (PN), insisting that the matter stemmed from the opposition coalition's internal conflict.
Acting Melaka PKR State Leadership Council chairman Adam Adli Abd Halim said PH had no involvement in the matter and had never made it part of its political strategy.
He described the allegation by Gerakan president Dominic Lau Hoe as baseless, stressing that the Melaka state election should be treated as a democratic process for voters to choose their state government.
“We reject the allegation. This has nothing to do with us, it is not our strategy, and we are not involved at all.
“That is their internal conflict. Here in Melaka, we have established that the contest is a democratic process that gives the public and voters the opportunity to decide who should form the state government.
“It has nothing to do with any disputes or political confrontations unrelated to that process,” he told a daily press conference by PH's Election Bureau in Melaka today.
Yesterday, media reports quoted Lau as alleging that PN's suspension by the RoS was part of PH's agenda ahead of the Melaka state election.
He claimed the suspension, imposed on Sept 23, coincided with the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly and was intended to help Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim secure a second term.
Meanwhile, Adam Adli expressed concern over personal attacks against several young candidates, including those from Generation Z and the millennial generation, contesting in the state election.
He said belittling young candidates was counterproductive, particularly as efforts were being made to build public confidence in their leadership abilities.
“We talk about young people as future leaders, but in PH, we believe in their strength and ability to lead today.
“There is no need to wait until they are older before giving them an opportunity,” he said.
He urged voters, particularly younger Malaysians, to assess the platforms and capabilities of the young candidates fielded by PH in the state election. - October 31, 2026
