PUTRAJAYA – The Statistics Department will reschedule the implementation of the second phase of the Malaysian Population and Housing Census 2020, which involves face-to-face interviews.
Chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin, who is also commissioner of the 2020 census, said the rescheduling of the second phase, originally slated from January 20 to February 6, has to be done following Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement yesterday on the movement control order (MCO).
“The new dates for Phase 2 will be announced soon,” he said in a statement today.
He said the department is also in the midst of reviewing census operations, including the possibility of reactivating the online census platform.
The MCO will be reimposed in Penang, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Sabah and the Federal Territories starting tomorrow.
Uzir said field activities related to the census and the department’s routine survey will proceed as scheduled, with standard operating procedures in place, in states not under the MCO. – Bernama, January 12, 2021
