KOTA KINABALU - Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s (GRS) Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor has officially received the invitation from Istana Negeri Sabah to be present for his swearing-in as the state’s chief minister tomorrow.
The state Bersatu head arrived at the palace at around 4pm to accept the invitation from Sabah Governor Tun Juhar Mahirrudin himself.
He also attended a rehearsal for the ceremony which is scheduled at 10am tomorrow
Also present were the Head of State’s Private Secretary Abinan Asli and other officials.
Three deputy chief ministerial (DCM) positions were created.
The DCM1, DCM2 and DCM3 seats are respectively given to Sabah Star (a component of Perikatan Nasional, PN) president Datuk Jeffry Kitingan, Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary-general Datuk Jahid Jahim.
PN, BN and PBS make up the GRS alliance.
Meanwhile, BN's national chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Umno president, stressed that the chief minister's post should have been designated to Umno.
He said this is because Umno is the individual party that won the most number of seats among them in the Sabah state election held on Sept 26.
Umno won 14 seats, Bersatu won 11, Sabah Star won six and PBS seven.
However, following negotiations among the parties, Sabah Umno agreed to nominate Hajiji with Sabahans' welfare in mind, Zahid said, claiming that the people's interest had been neglected by the former Warisan state government. - The Vibes, September 28, 2020.
