KOTA KINABALU – In his first public appearance after his defeat in Sabah, Warisan Plus leader Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal today turned up in Likas at the residence of the late Batu Sapi MP Datuk Liew Vui Keong.
Shafie was there to pay his respects to Liew who died on Friday. Liew was also chairman of Parti Warisan Sabah.
While Shafie was there, he greeted several visitors but the media was not allowed to ask him questions.
He was also seen talking to Liew’s wife Datin Lindai Lee and her children before leaving the residence.
Shafie later in a voice recording to The Vibes said Malaysia has lost a great leader and expresses hope that those in the Batu Sapi constituency will continue to work hard to ensure the development envisioned by Liew will be realised.
“I wish to express my thanks to those in Batu Sapi who had given their support to Liew. It is my hope that we will continue to with the struggle.”
Also present at Liew’s residence were Warisan deputy president Datuk Darell Leiking, Warisan treasurer Terrence Siambun and other party leaders.
Liew was reported to have been admitted to a private hospital here on September 10, two days before the nomination day for Sabah’s state election.
On Wednesday, a message circulated on WhatsApp, saying Liew’s condition was critical and his family had requested for their privacy.
On Thursday, his brother Peter had informed several media outlets that Liew’s condition was improving. But Liew died the next day at 11.50am. – The Vibes, October 4, 2020
