KUALA NERUS – Two schools in Terengganu have been ordered closed until October 11 after pupils tested positive for the coronavirus.

State education director Salim Ab Ghani said the schools in question are SK Kompleks Seberang Takir and SMK Kompleks Seberang Takir here.

“The closure of these schools is on the advice of the Terengganu Health Department to enable disinfection work to be carried out,” he told Bernama today.

“Covid-19 screening will also be carried out on pupils and teachers who were in close contact with the patients.”

SMK Kompleks Seberang Takir has 765 pupils and 82 teachers, while SK Kompleks Seberang Takir has 817 pupils and 63 teachers.

Last Friday, SK Padang Kemunting, also located here, was ordered shut after a teacher tested positive for the virus.

A day before, a kindergarten in Bandar Al Muktafi Billah Shah, Dungun, was closed after a staffer was confirmed infected. – Bernama, October 5, 2020
