JAWI – Raped and sodomised before her body was hidden under a bed – the horrifying fate of a 40-year-old Taman Seruling Emas resident here yesterday.

The matter came to light when the victim’s friend went to her house about 3pm after she failed to show up for their meeting.

Seberang Prai Selatan district police chief Lee Chong Chern told reporters today that the friend contacted the victim’s sister before informing police.

“Police found the victim’s house in a mess. The body was found under a bed in a room downstairs.

“The victim’s neighbour said a man was seen leaving the residence on a motorcycle.”

The suspect, aged 29, was arrested in Changkat Sg Jawi about 9pm. He admitted to having taken syabu before breaking into the victim’s home at 3am.

“The suspect allegedly entered the victim’s room, where he saw her sleeping, and raped and sodomised her. The victim is believed to have fought back and screamed, after which the suspect gagged her with underwear and covered her mouth,” said Lee.

“The victim then stopped moving, believed to have died. The suspect allegedly continued raping and sodomising her, and then dragged her body under the bed.”

The man took the victim’s cash, mobile phone, and pendant, but then threw them into a river in the Changkat area, he said.

He said checks revealed that the suspect has criminal records for extortion, trespassing, robbery, and drug abuse.

“The forensic team is still conducting investigations at the scene. So far, 25 samples have been taken.

“The body was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.” – The Vibes, August 29, 2021
