KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia logged 487 new Covid-19 deaths as of 11.59pm yesterday, of which seven were “actual deaths” and 161 classified as brought in dead (BID).
This brings the country’s virus death toll to 24,565, and total BID cases to 4,809.
Selangor recorded the most fatalities yesterday at 178, of which 71 were BID. Sabah is second with 87 deaths (33 BID) and Johor recorded 63 deaths (5 actual deaths and 5 BID).
Kuala Lumpur saw 44 deaths (27 BID), Penang (36 deaths, with 3 BID), Kelantan (26 deaths, with 12 BID), Perak (18 deaths, with 1 actual death, 6 BID and 1 actual BID) and Kedah (14 deaths, with 2 BID).
Melaka logged five deaths, Negri Sembilan (5 deaths, with 1 BID), Pahang (5 deaths, with 1 actual death and 1 BID), Terengganu (3 deaths), Perlis (2 deaths) and Sarawak (1 death).
Labuan and Putrajaya did not register new virus fatalities.
Currently, there are 10,321 Covid-19 patients in hospital, 21,581 in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 168,258 in home quarantine. In total, Malaysia has 201,274 active cases.
The country yesterday recorded 14,990 fresh infections, making for 2,142,924 since the start of the pandemic, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. – The Vibes, September 23, 2021
