MELAKA – Adly Zahari, Pakatan Harapan’s choice for chief minister, has all but secured a handsome victory in Bukit Katil, defending the seat he won in the last general election.

As of 8.40pm, the Melaka PH chairman has a majority of 1,106 over his rivals, with 58 of the 59 voting channels counted.

However, Adly’s win is expected to be in vain, with his coalition set to lose the state to Barisan Nasional.

In total, Adly won 6,700 votes, according to unofficial results.

Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Hasnoor Husin secured 5,594 votes, followed by Perikatan Nasional’s Muhammad Al Afiz Yahya (3,602) and independent Abdul Hamid Mustapah (109)

Adly’s victory means PN’s Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin is the only chief minister candidate, among the three main coalitions competing in Melaka, to lose in her seat. – The Vibes, November 20, 2021
