KUALA LUMPUR – The Special Affairs Unit (Jasa) under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry will get RM81 million under Budget 2021.
This is significantly higher than when the propaganda arm was operational under the Barisan Nasional administration, which saw it receiving RM17 million in 2017.
The unit was disbanded when Pakatan Harapan came to power in 2018.
Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman immediately slammed the decision to bring back the controversial unit, saying Jasa will receive more funds than other initiatives.
“Jasa has been revived. The allocation for the government cybertroopers (Jasa) is now RM81 million!!! Previously, under the BN government, only RM30 million.
“Unfortunately, the funds for dilapidated schools’ refurbishment have been reduced to RM58 million. Allocation for mental health is only RM24 million,” he tweeted. – The Vibes, November 6, 2020
