KOTA KINABALU – Covid-19 cases in Sabah remain at over 400 cases per day, bumped by the higher cases in the east coast district of Sandakan.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun tonight said 93 of the 476 new cases in the state today are from Sandakan.

The daily cases jumped 30 cases after dropping to 446 cases on Wednesday. The highest infections were reported on February 1 with 141 cases.

“Of the existing active clusters, Tuaran’s Batu 24 Nabalu cluster recorded four new cases, Ranau’s Puri Ranau cluster has four new cases, Papar’s Persiaran Palma cluster has one case, Kota Marudu’s Jalan Teritipan cluster has one new case, Keningau’s Puri Seberang cluster has one case, Tawau’s Jalan Apas Batu Lima and Jalan Sri Balung reported seven and two cases respectively,” he said in a statement.

Overall, he said local infections made up the most of the number with 471 cases, while one imported case from Iraq was recorded, and another from Selangor. Three cases involving inmates or detainees were detected.

The cases involved 454 Malaysians and 22 non-Malaysians. Over half of the cases involve persons aged between 26 and 59 years old. – The Vibes, February 3, 2022
