Massive fire razes squatter colony in Tawau

KUALA LUMPUR – A large section of a squatter colony in Tawau is believed to have been destroyed in a fire today.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said in a preliminary report that they received a distress call at 4.45pm and dispatched a team of three fire trucks and three support vehicles to bring the fire under control.

No casualties were reported.

Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun shared a video of the fire, which showed firefighters working on containing the blaze, which had already spread to a wide area. – The Vibes, March 17, 2022
