KUALA LUMPUR – A social media post alleging a suicide attempt by a trainee doctor in Kelantan was an old incident reported in 2019.

State Health Director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the case was closed as the allegations could not be proven.

He added that the recent post did not have a writer, making it difficult for authorities to determine the facts of the case.

“If there are specific reports on such cases, we will investigate to ensure justice for the victims. We have meetings with trainee doctors at hospitals here once a month or sometimes once every three months to listen to their grievances.

“At the same time, the Health Department is there to help them become the best medical officers,” he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro after an event at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Baru.

He added that counselling help is available to trainee doctors should they need it.

A Twitter post yesterday alleged that a trainee doctor revealed incidents of emotional bullying two weeks after being stationed at a government hospital on the east coast. – The Vibes, May 8, 2022
