GEORGE TOWN – PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has appointed his daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar to lead the party’s chapters in Perlis, Kedah and Penang for the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

Anwar said Nurul Izzah’s term would last until the end of GE15, adding that the decision came following a meeting with party leaders from the three northern states.

“We discussed and held negotiations about her appointment, and I am glad to reveal that there was unanimous support from the division heads who attended the meeting,” Anwar told reporters at the Penang PKR headquarters here, this evening.

The 41-year-old Nurul Izzah, who is Permatang Pauh MP, recently announced her marriage to Yin Shao Loong, a senior research associate at Khazanah Research Institute.

Anwar also revealed that he has yet to decide where to contest in the next election, but possible constituencies include the Tambun seat in Perak, or others in Johor.

The PKR president is currently the Port Dickson MP, after winning a by-election there in 2018.

Anwar also said that the party grassroots leaders here have raised concerns over the rising costs of living, constant flooding in Kedah and the general unhappiness over the government’s handling of the country’s battle against corruption.

“These grievances will form the basis of our struggle for now,” Anwar said – The Vibes, August 11, 2022
