KUALA LUMPUR – After being slapped by a civil suit from ex-chairman Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, law firm Zaid Ibrahim & Co today denied all allegations made against it.
“Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim has filed a claim in court making various allegations against the firm. We firmly deny all allegations. We believe the allegations are without merit and will be responding vigorously through court filings,” the statement read.
The firm also expressed regret that a matter, which has reached the courts, has also been reported in the media.
The firm said it will not participate in any media campaigns related to the case.
“Our partnership stands united and it is business as usual. The firm looks forward to continuing to be a leading Malaysian law firm with market-defining insights while maintaining our corporate reputation for trust and the highest standards of professionalism for our clients,” the statement added.
On November 18, Zaid filed a civil suit against the firm in the high court.
Zaid is requesting that the firm cease from using his name.
According to court documents obtained by The Vibes, Zaid said the firm requested his return to the firm as chairman and then later terminated his employment after one week.
Zaid contended that the firm’s use of his name is a misrepresentation. – The Vibes, November 24, 2020
