KUALA LUMPUR – The Court of Appeal has set June 22 and 23 next year to hear Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s application to set aside her conviction and prison sentence in the RM1.25 billion graft case related to a solar hybrid project for Sarawak schools.

The hearing dates were set following case management earlier this morning.

Deputy public prosecutor Poh Yii Tinn who appeared for the prosecution informed the press of the new dates.

The appellate court will also hear Rosmah’s bid to recuse high court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan in the same case during these dates, added Poh.

Her application to recuse Zaini, filed two days before her conviction, cited her loss of confidence following the leak of an alleged draft judgment, which she claimed was not drawn up by the judge.

Rosmah is also seeking an order that with the judge’s recusal, her graft case should be heard, retried, or decided by another high court judge.

On September 1, Rosmah was sentenced to 10 years in jail and a historic RM970 million fine – an amount her defence lawyers called “unprecedented” as it eclipsed the RM210 million fine imposed on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the SRC International Bhd corruption case. – The Vibes, December 19, 2022
