119 victims shelter at relief centres after flash floods in Kuching, Bau

KUCHING – A total of 119 victims from 30 families have been displaced by flash floods caused by unceasing heavy rain here and in Bau as of 7am today.

The Civil Defence Force said 75 flood victims from 14 families are from Kg Bedaun, Jalan Sultan Tengah.

All of them have been moved to the flood relief centre at the Kg Bedaun multipurpose hall, which opened at 4.38am today.

In Bau, the flood victims were from Kg Opar (a family of four) and Kg Jugan (40 flood victims from 15 families).

Flood relief centres have opened at the halls of the two villages.

The Civil Defence Force said the unceasing heavy rain has also led to the water level in Samarahan increasing.

Among the locations being monitored are Kg Simunjan Jaya, Kg Sg Lingkau, Kg Melanjok, Kg Hijrah, Kg Lunying, Kg Kerong, Kg Belimbing Besi, Kg Emperan Buluh, Kg Kelait, Kg Bulan, Kg Sg Nyamuk, Kg Bajong Hulu, Kg Bajong Hilir, Kg Arus Iban, Kg Arus Melayu, Kg Lot Sebandi Ulu, Kg Sebandi Matang, Kg Moyan Ledang, Kg Rebak, and Kg Lot Asajaya Masjid An Najah. – Borneo Post Online, December 23, 2022
