KUALA LUMPUR – SJK(C) Mun Choong will host a memorial this Friday for victims of the deadly Batang Kali landslide.

The event will be held from 9am to noon at the school assembly hall.

According to the New Straits Times, an invitation has been sent out and the school has advised guests to not come with bouquet offerings.

Guests have also been told to dress appropriately and that the school has limited parking bays.

The school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) head U Chin Ong said that the Batang Kali victims include the school’s students, teachers, and canteen workers while the rest were their friends.

He also denied that the PTA was working with any non-governmental organisations to raise funds for the affected families.

The early morning incident on December 16 claimed the lives of 31 out of the 92 people involved. Sixty-one others escaped unhurt or with minor injuries.

Among the dead, 18 were adults, and 13 were children, including a 1-year-old toddler. – The Vibes, December 28, 2022
