KOTA KINABALU – Three Sabah assemblymen from Warisan tonight announced their departure from the party.

The three state representatives – Mohammad Mohamarin (Banggi), Ben Chong (Tg Kapor), and Norazlinah Arif (Kunak) – appeared in the video posted on Norazlinah’s official Facebook account, announcing that they are now independent assemblymen supporting the Sabah government.

Norazlinah spoke on behalf of the three reps in the video, saying that they have thoroughly considered the matter before making the decision, including the direction of political coalitions in Sabah and grassroots views in their constituencies.

“We hereby announce (that we are) leaving the party and supporting the Sabah government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in the hopes of continuing to provide good services to the community.

“We believe that it is time…any action contributing to political instability should be stopped,” she said in the brief video.

She also apologised to Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and party supporters, and announced that they are relinquishing all their positions in the party.

Norazlinah is Warisan women’s chief, while Mohammad and Chong are the party’s supreme council members.

In another video posted by Norazlinah at about 9.30pm, about 30 men and women claiming to be Warisan members and branch chiefs in Lahad Datu, and former Kunak community development leader, expressed support for Norazlinah.

It is learnt that Shafie is currently in Mecca performing the umrah.

Prior to their departure, Warisan had a total of 19 assemblymen. – The Vibes, February 6, 2023
