KUALA LUMPUR – All 195 countries that are part of Interpol’s network have yet to confirm the presence of fugitive Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, and his known associates despite remaining active under the international organisation’s Red Notice list.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said his ministry through the police force’s commercial crimes department have since filed charges in absentia at the Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ courts respectively.

“Low (Taek Jho), Terence Geh Choh Heng, Casey Tang Keng Chee, Jasmine Loo, and Eric Tan Kim Loong have been charged within the legal framework so that everyone involved in the 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Bhd) scandal can be brought to court.

“While for Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, there are ongoing investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission regarding SRC International Sdn Bhd,” he said in a parliamentary reply today.

The Red Notice that has been obtained from Interpol against all in the list, Saifuddin said, is still active and effective to this day.

“At present, the Royal Malaysian Police continues to cooperate with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), United States; Singaporean authorities, and other national enforcement agencies that are also conducting investigations into funds belonging to 1MDB to get any information that can help track and capture all involved.

Saifuddin’s response comes after Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (Sungai Petani-PH) had asked the home minister about efforts by law enforcement to locate Jho Low and his associates to bring those involved in the 1MDB scandal to justice. – The Vibes, March 15, 2023
