KUALA TERENGGANU – A total of eight areas in Marang district are expected to experience low water pressure during the Aidilfitri celebration.

Syarikat Air Terengganu (Satu) chief executive officer Abdul Karim Endut said the areas are Kg Durian Kasim, Bukit Kecil, Durian Pahit, Gong Balai, Pasir Putih, Alor Ketitir, Tok Fakir and Felda Rantau Abang l.

He said accordingly, Satu has made early plans to place 34 static tanks in the areas to ensure that all users get sufficient water supply.

“This year, we have identified (the areas) early. It will involve a small area in Marang since the construction and water distribution works from the Kepong water treatment plant to the main tanks are ongoing.

“However, the percentage (of areas to be affected) is too small... involving around 600 accounts,” he said during the Satu X Media (Setulus Kasih Ramadan) programme here last night.

According to Karim, Satu also expects an increase in water consumption of 10% to 15% during this year’s festive season.

However, he gave assurance that there would be no water supply disruption in other districts apart from Marang.

“For your information, a week before and after Hari Raya, we will stop all work, such as maintenance, that may interfere with plant operations. It is to ensure there is no disruption to water production in the 16 plants we have across the state,” he said.

He also said that Satu supplies about 750 million litres per day of water to consumers throughout Terengganu. – Bernama, April 12, 2023
