KUALA LUMPUR – None of the Beam Mobility e-scooters destroyed in a fire in front of Suria KLCC here yesterday were the cause of the blaze, said the company.

“Beam has been made aware that a number of its e-scooters were damaged by a fire that took place in front of KLCC, and we would like to update that upon investigations by the relevant authorities, our vehicles were not the cause of the fire,” it said in a brief statement yesterday.

It added the e-scooter body hardware is of high-grade quality using aircraft-grade aluminium to ensure durability while the batteries were installed according to international safety certifications.

Beam currently operates in Kuala Lumpur, Ampang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Kuantan, and Langkawi, as well as several countries in Asia.

Yesterday, nine motorcycles and four electric scooters were destroyed in a fire in front of the mall, while another four motorcycles were partially burnt.

A spokesman for the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operation centre said that in the 3.45pm incident, a total of 15 firefighters, with three fire engines rushed to the scene

According to the spokesman, the fire was brought under control at 4.04pm, and there were no casualties. – The Vibes, April 14, 2023
