KULAI – The Johor government is committed to ensure smooth traffic at the two land crossings between Johor and Singapore.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the congestion problem at the Johor Causeway in Johor Baru and Linkedua at Iskandar Puteri has gone on for decades and needed to be solved immediately.

“It is a very important issue, it is a legacy issue and has been going on for the past two to three decades.

“As the new menteri besar of Johor, it is my objective to ensure that this issue is resolved this year.

“That is why many Johoreans are seeing me at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex at the Sultan Iskandar Building, and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex at 5am,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of JStar Motion Sdn Bhd’s first manufacturing plant in Asean, at i-Park@Indahpura, here today.

He said there are many other things that the state government is also trying to resolve, including improving the roads in Johor.

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced recently that the federal government approved around RM500 million for Phase One, to widen the North-South Expressway.

“Recently, we met up with Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who approved an additional RM40 million for the roads in Johor.

“On top of that, we are also working with the federal and Singapore governments to maybe look into providing a ferry shuttle from Tuas to Kota Iskandar,” he said. – Bernama, May 27, 2023
