KUALA LUMPUR – The wake service for Westports Holdings Bhd’s founder and executive chairman Tan Sri G. Gnanalingam will be held today at Dewan Budaya Tan Sri G at Westports, Pulau Indah.

Westports in an announcement on Facebook said the service will be held from 9am to 11am, and requested that no photos or videos be taken inside the hall during the service.

Gnanalingam died yesterday aged 78.

The prominent businessman founded Westports in Port Klang in the 1990s, became its director on January 1, 2009, and then its executive chairman on September 1, 2013.

Westports in a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday informed the bourse of its chairman’s passing, calling the company founder a source of inspiration.

“He touched our lives and the community with his compassion, generosity, and kindness.

“His vision and stewardship of the company have built and transformed Westports and Port Klang into the pre-eminent gateway port in Malaysia and one of the trans-shipment hubs in Southeast Asia,” Westports said. – The Vibes, July 12, 2023
