KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has apologised to Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah over his statement regarding the appointment of the Selangor menteri besar.
Sanusi, who is also Perikatan Nasional election director said he had sent an explanation letter (warkah) to the Selangor sultan on what he truly meant in his speech.
In a posting on Facebook, he claimed that his speech had been manipulated by Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional.
“I have sent a letter (warkah) to Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Sultan Selangor explaining the context, true meaning and what I wanted to bring across in my speech which was intentionally spun.
“My warkah was preceded by praying for pardon and forgiveness from his majesty the sultan of Selangor and hope he would not be angry with the issues that were deliberately highlighted in the speech,” he said.
He said he had also been informed by the palace that the sultan had given his consent to receive and read his warkah, yesterday.
However, he said the warkah was not good enough to be uploaded to preserve the nobleness of the Selangor sultan and maintain the customs and manners in dealing with the Palace.
“I also gave my statement to the police at about 2am yesterday to complete their investigations over the reports made by PKR Youth, PKR and others”.
Police had earlier confirmed opening an investigation paper on Sanusi regarding a statement under the Sedition Act 1948 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Through a video clip that went viral which is believed to have been recorded when giving a ceramah, Sanusi is claimed to have belittled the appointment of Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari as the Selangor menteri besar by the Selangor sultan. – The Vibes, July 15, 2023
