TAWAU – Sabah’s ruling party, Gagasan Rakyat, is prepared to send a team to help the unity government campaign in the upcoming state elections, said its information chief, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.

However, he said it will depend on whether there is a need for deployment and if there is an order from party chief, who is also Sabah chief minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

“We are clear to continue our support of the Madani government or the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We are now waiting for orders to be there and support candidates representing the unity government in all the six peninsula states,” he said at a preschool closing ceremony here.

Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin recently announced the state chapter’s plans to help the unity government candidates in the state elections.

However, Bung is not in line with Hajiji, who is leading Gagasan Rakyat – a component of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) will also send a team to support the unity government candidates.

Its president Datuk Peter Anthony recently told the press that the party will be focusing on Selangor where KDM currently has a solid number of supporters.
