KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu lodged a police report today in connection with a viral claim made in a Telegram channel over an alleged sexual harassment incident.

In the report lodged at the Sri Hartamas police station, he said the posting linked his name to several accusations made by individuals against him.

He strongly denied the allegations and believed the claims may involve elements of criminal incitement and defamation.

Faizal claimed that the specific accusations in the posting are entirely false.

He said that at the time of the alleged incident, he was in Negri Sembilan carrying out official duties as the deputy president of Bersatu and numerous witnesses can vouch for his presence there.

He hoped police will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and asserted his right to take legal action against those involved in spreading the false claims.

“During this campaign period, I hope we focus solely on politics and policies that can advance the nation.

“Personal attacks like these serve no purpose and only waste police resources,” Faizal said.

Earlier, the Edisi Siasat channel on Telegram uploaded the police report allegedly implicating Faizal.

However, Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor confirmed that the report was withdrawn on the same day it was filed. – The Vibes, August 3, 2023
