MIRI – There are at least 1,200 government clinics that are in bad shape throughout the country that have been put on the fast-track list for repairs before the end of this year.

Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni said today that his ministry is trying to get these 1,200 clinics or so fully repaired before December 31, this year.

Speaking when visiting the Siburan Clinic in southern Sarawak today, he said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had urged his ministry to fast-track the repairs of all these crucial clinics.

“Throughout the country, there are 1,200 or so clinics that are in bad shape. We are trying to get these repairs done soonest, before year-end if possible.

“In Sarawak, 36 dilapidated clinics should be fully repaired by the end of this December.

“The list for next year’s repairs is being compiled,” he said.

Lukanisman said Anwar had placed the repairs of clinics under the Bitara Madani projects category.

The Siburan Clinic that is being repaired is one of the clinics under the Bitara Madani scheme, he said.

The majority of the government clinics that are in bad shape in Sarawak are located in rural and semi-rural districts. – The Vibes, August 5, 2023
