KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has expressed confidence that the various issues plaguing the state will be swiftly resolved following the direct interaction between Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the people during his pan-Borneo tour.
Hajiji said he believes that the prime minister will take heed of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah's observations and requests when he presents the notes he has compiled, given his role as head of state of Malaysia.
“Surely (development will be hastened) as he is the head of the country and I think he will raise the matter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to resolve all Sabah’s issues,” Hajiji told reporters after chairing the Gagasan Rakyat supreme council meeting here today.
Al-Sultan Abdullah embarked on a five-day road trip, covering key cities such as Tawau, Lahad Datu, Sandakan, Ranau, Kota Kinabalu, and Sipitang, before continuing his journey to Brunei.
During the journey, the king took the opportunity to meet and interact with locals, who did not hesitate to voice their grievances, primarily revolving around poor road conditions, electricity shortages, water supply concerns, and various other issues.
Al-Sultan Abdullah said he has taken notes of all the issues raised and intends to bring them to Anwar, with the hope that the federal government will take swift action to solve the problems.
Meanwhile, Hajiji, who is also the Gagasan Rakyat president, said the party’s membership has now exceeded the 300,000 mark. With the establishment of the party’s Labuan division, it now has a total of 26 divisions.
He added that the party will be holding its first annual general meeting in November 14 this year. – The Vibes, September 8, 2023
