EMOTIONS will surely be riding high as one team will be going home empty-handed while the other lifts the greatest trophy in the sporting world.

To sum up the World Cup journey this past month, The Vibes Sports Desk is joined by PETRA News chief executive officer Datuk Zainul Arifin Mohammed Isa as we look outside the pitch to see where the influence of football extends its reach.

The last time both teams met was in the round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

France won that match 4-3 with Kylian Mbappe scoring two goals back-to-back within five minutes to give his side the edge, and later went on to win the competition.

However, Argentina currently holds the head-to-head advantage with six wins and France with three, while three meetings between the two ended in a draw.

Will this be Lionel Messi’s moment to lift the coveted cup? The last pair of Argentine hands to grip the golden trophy was the legendary Diego Maradona in Mexico in 1986.

We also look at the third-place match between Croatia and everyone’s favourite underdogs, Morocco.

This episode also takes a more local approach as we discuss the winning mentality countries need to have if they want to make it all the way at the World Cup, and how Malaysian athletes need to adopt that mentality as well.

Who will win? Will France be able to defend their last World Cup win? Or will Argentina bring the cup home again with Messi at the helm?

Either way, there will only be one winner. – The Vibes, December 17, 2022
