WORLD No. 7 Lee Zii Jia lost to Thailand's reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the Paris Olympic men's singles badminton semi-finals today.

This defeat has ended Malaysia's gold medal bid in badminton.

Zii Jia did his best against the in-form Kunlavut, losing 21-14, 21-15 in 50 minutes.

There is still a chance for a medal as Zii Jia will be back on the court at Porte de la Chapelle Arena to fight for the bronze medal.

He will face either world No. 2 Viktor Axelsen or India's Lakshya Sen in the bronze medal match on Monday. – August 4, 2024.
