JOHOR Darul Ta'zim FC (JDT) have launched the club's new Medical & Fitness Centre at the JDT Training Centre at Padang Seri Gelam today.

The Medical & Fitness Centre, which was launched virtually via a video reveal of the facility, is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and will be staffed with full-time doctors and physiotherapists.

JDT are proving to be the leading football destination in the region in terms of infrastructure, on-field success, innovation, branding and development.

Already equipped with the best facilities, the Southern Tigers' latest expansion sees the availability of new equipment and expertise to ensure players remain at optimum levels.

"We want to provide excellent facilities for the players in order to bring out the best in each of them, and this includes rehabilitation and recovery," said JDT owner, HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor.

"JDT is a club that aspires to continuously set the benchmark and raise standards... not just domestically, but internationally, too. Our facilities and success will continue to cultivate JDT’s profile and its benefits for years to come."

The Medical & Fitness Centre, which includes a juice bar for healthy drinks and snacks, features two new infra-red sauna machines, functional trainers, Smith machines and medical equipment, such as an echocardiogram machine and a device for hyaluronic acid and platelet-rich plasma therapy.

The new centre also includes an indoor running surface composed of high-density polyethylene and padded with rubber to reduce impact on the joints.

This is in addition to the oxygen & hydrogen therapy machines and various gym and medical equipment purchased in previous years. ─ The Vibes, 15 January, 2021
