KUALA LUMPUR – Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has announced the appointment of former shuttler Lee Meng Yean as the coach for the women’s doubles department.
In a statement today, BAM says the appointment of Meng Yean is to strengthen the coaching department alongside former men’s doubles player Hoo Thien How.
Meng Yean was the skipper of the 2020 Uber Cup team and competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Meanwhile, Dr Tim Jones has also been appointed as the new High-Performance Director.
The 40-year-old served as the National Sports Institute’s (NSI) senior physiologist for the past four years.

He was also the Olympic Team Leader for badminton at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Tim will now be tasked with strategic performance planning and reinforcing the strong foundations already in place.
“This appointment was made to ensure sustained on-court excellence at the international level through a meticulous, strategic approach.
“On the back of the recent 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) success, the Association will continue to explore avenues to bolster the technical department to unlock the potential of the determined, young squad at the Malaysian Badminton Academy,” it said in the statement. – The Vibes, February 25, 2022.
