KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor MAC were crowned champions of the Malaysia Premier Futsal League) (MPFL) 2022 after beating Shah Alam City 1-0 at the Panasonic National Sports Complex in Shah Alam, Selangor last night.

The solitary goal netted by Matheus Vasconcelos Silva in the 16th minute was enough for Addy Shairullyzam’s squad to confirm their dominance and ruin the dream of Pahang Rangers who had to be contented with being runners-up twice in a row in the league.

Last night’s result of the eighth circuit in the 15-team league put Selangor MAC at the top after collecting 36 points besides having only one match left to play against Pahang Rangers on March 13.

Pahang Rangers, coached by Gerard Casas, who occupied second place with 32 points, tried to turn the tide in their favour when they beat Angkatan Tentera Malaysia 7-1 last Saturday with the hope that Selangor MAC would drop points in their remaining matches.

However, their hopes were dashed when Selangor MAC also won 3-2 over Selangor TOT the same day.

Selangor MAC were also champions in the 2019 edition, also to the disappointment of Pahang Rangers who had to be satisfied with the runners-up position. – Bernama, March 7, 2022
