KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian badminton star Lee Zii Jia enters the semi-finals of the German Open after beating China’s Zhao Jun Peng 21-12, 21-18 today in the quarter-finals.

At the Westenergie Sporthalle in Muelheim An Der Ruhr today, Zii Jia took the first set in a swift 16 minutes.

The second set started off shaky for the world number seven, but he caught up and sealed the win to progress to the next round. 

Zii Jia will either face Thai shuttler Kunlavut Vitidsam or Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Malaysian women’s doubles pair of Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien take on top seed Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan of China for a spot in the semi-finals.

Mixed doubles duo Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing face off against top rank Thai pair of Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai.

The men’s doubles of Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi will play against fellow countrymen Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin today in the quarter-finals. – The Vibes, March 11, 2022.
