KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Football League’s (MFL) electronic football tournament eMFL returns for its third year in the EA Sports FIFA 22 Global Series with a RM50,000 prize pool.
In a statement, MFL chief executive officer (CEO) Stuart Ramalingam is optimistic that eMFL will not just be an avenue to develop new talents in e-sports, but can also become an ideal commercial platform.
“Organising the eMFL for the third year in a row has proven the potential of this electronic football tournament and I am sure it will be able to grow further in the future.
“I am proud that the eMFL is returning to excite the local football scene soon,” he said.
He believes that eMFL can become an excellent product from the quality and commercial aspects as the tournament is experiencing one of the best processes in the history of electronic football.
“The proof is that this will be the third year that eMFL will be held and this is a clear indication why eMFL continues to attract attention, particularly amongst electronic football fans who will surely look forward to this tournament,” he added.
Partnering with Gamesbond International, two stages of the tournament will be organised – a league format and a knockout format – and there would also be a selection mechanism where teams are given the opportunity to choose their players via selection or via a qualifying round.
This year’s edition will use the EA Sports FIFA 22 Ultimate Team mode with the duo format, which means each team is represented by two players.
One player slot from the winning team will qualify to compete in the international-level FIFA 22 Global Series Playoffs, organised by EA Sports.
This tournament will also position MFL as the only league in Southeast Asia with an EA Sports FIFA 22 HD electronic league.
Professional eMFL players are expected to be using the latest PlayStation 5 console and EA Sports FIFA 22 platform.
Fans can access live broadcasts of the eMFL on the Facebook pages of eMFL, MFL, and Gamesbond. – The Vibes, April 15, 2022.
