KUALA LUMPUR – Integrated car e-commerce platform Carsome announced the appointment of footballing legend Eric Cantona as its brand ambassador today.
In his capacity as ambassador to the brand, Cantona will take an active involvement in Carsome’s upcoming promotional activities for the year as well as group-wide advertising campaigns in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
“I am pleased to see the progressive and innovative work done by Carsome.
“I am confident our partnership will introduce more car buyers to high industry standards set by Carsome, and subsequently welcome them to a world where the car ownership journey is a trusted and pleasant one,” said Cantona in a statement.
Meanwhile, co-founder and group CEO of Carsome Eric Cheng said that Cantona shares the same relentless spirit to go above and beyond as the company.
“We are excited to have Cantona onboard as Carsome’s brand ambassador.
“I believe Cantona’s personification of victory and fearlessness displayed throughout his life and career will bring us to even greater heights in the used car market,” he said.
Cantona, or “King Eric” as nicknamed by Manchester United fans, was previously spotted in KL at the end of May.
The 56-year-old Frenchman made the trip here with his two brothers, Joel and Jean-Marie.
Cantona was also a brand ambassador for communications provider YES in 2016.
During the visit, his fifth to Malaysia, Cantona said that he considers it to be his second home.
Cantona was the key piece of the puzzle in solving Manchester United’s goal-scoring troubles in his debut season.
He was also instrumental in breaking the club’s championship dry spell after 26 years of trophyless seasons.
In 2004, Cantona was named in the Fifa 100 list of the world’s greatest living players by Pele and was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame last year. – The Vibes, July 14, 2022
