KUALA LUMPUR – National diving pair Nur Dhabitah Sabri and Muhammad Syafiq Puteh won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games after finishing third in the mixed synchronised three-metre springboard final today.
Merely 6.96 points away from gold medal winners James Philip Heatly-Grace Elizabeth Reid from Scotland, Dhabitah-Syafiq scored 48.60, 48.60, 68.40, 63.24, 70.20 after five rounds, bringing their total to 299.04.
Bagging silver was Australian duo Li Shixin-Maddison Keeney who finished with a score of 304.02.
In the same event, fellow comrades Gabriel Gilbert Daim-Ng Yan Yee fell short as they only managed to finish in seventh place with a total score of 273.06.
This is Malaysia’s eighth bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Datuk Pandelela Rinong-Jellson Jabillin came up short in adding another medal to the tally after they finished fourth in the mixed synchronised 10-metre platform final today.
With a total score of 302.82, the duo were 30.24 points away from the gold medal winners Noah Oliver Williams-Andrea Spendolini Sirieix of England who scored 333.06 after five rounds.
It was England taking the top two podium spots as Kyle Kothari-Lois Mae Toulson snagged silver with 318.54 points, and Australia’s Cassiel Emmanuel Rousseau-Emily Ann Boyd rounded off the top three with 309.60 points. – The Vibes, August 8, 2022
