KUALA LUMPUR – The new township of Kota Seriemas in Nilai, Negri Sembilan is set to get not one but two FIFA-standard football pitches in early 2023.

Named the Seriemas Sportsplex, the development will feature two full-sized football fields and three futsal pitches equipped with fully automated smart lighting systems, and durable and soft artificial turf fit for professionals.

In a statement today, Kota Seriemas developer Permodalan Nasional Berhad Development Sdn Bhd chief executive Megat Rozlan Abdul Rahman said the Seriemas Sportsplex will benefit township residents.

“It will bring not only financial returns, but also social benefits to the local population while indirectly helping to make the national football development agenda a success,” he said.

Until now, the only few FIFA-recognised artificial grass football pitches in the country are government facilities, and the upcoming Seriemas Sportsplex will be the first FIFA-standard artificial pitch project spearheaded by a private company.

The location of the development, being close to the Klang Valley and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, will likely see it being used by social football clubs and even international teams.

The sportsplex will also be equipped with the latest innovative booking system through the JomChup application, the developer said.

According to the company, the idea for the project was sparked by healthy lifestyle trends, apart from promoting healthier lifestyles to property buyers through the Seriemas Sportsplex.

The development is also part of the township regeneration initiative to promote liveliness in Kota Seriemas, which is expected to attract interested investors to jointly develop the residential and commercial plots in the township. – The Vibes, September 29, 2022.
