KUALA LUMPUR – The country’s badminton star in the making, Justin Hoh, created a sensation by winning his third senior title at the Malaysian International Challenge in Ipoh, Perak today.

In the men’s singles final action held at the Perak Badminton Arena, Justin lost the first set to compatriot Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin before bouncing back to seal the victory 18-21, 21-16, 21-17.

The 18-year-old picked up his first senior title at the Bonn International 2022 in Germany and also won the Croatian Open in June.

Meanwhile, national mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei’s dream to add to their collection of two international championships was shattered, after losing to fellow Malaysians, Hoo Pang Ron-Teoh Mei Xing.

Newly paired Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who emerged champions at the Bangladesh International Challenge last Sunday, won the first set 21-18 but failed to keep up the momentum before faltering 15-21, 19-21 in the second and third sets of the match that lasted a total of 51 minutes.

Meanwhile, the women’s singles actions saw national representative K. Letshanaa lose 16-21, 19-21 to Yulia Yosephine Susanto from Indonesia in the final. – Bernama, December 18, 2022
