KUALA LUMPUR – Safe Sport Malaysia (SSM) has been appointed as a community partner for Real Chukai Football Club for the 2023 season.
In a statement issued today, the independent non-profit organisation said they are working alongside Real Chukai FC to deliver safe, meaningful, and inclusive programmes to inform and protect its young members.
“The Safe Sport Movement has received fantastic support from the club since discussions began, and we are grateful that they want to work with us.
“Every child has a right to practise sports in a safe and healthy environment free from abuse, discrimination, and harassment.
“Real Chukai is one of the first clubs committed to working towards athletes’ safety and well-being. Strong leadership and a supportive community are critical to a successful safeguarding programme.
“Thanks to Real Chukai, we are confident and look forward to seeing the work we can do together to make community sports safer,” said SSM founding president Sarina Sundara Rajah.
Real Chukai FC is a semi-professional sports club based in Terengganu and established in 2015, with the objective to develop football talents from the grassroots and take part in the highest level of Malaysian football competitions.
The statement added that Real Chukai FC is the first amateur football club to have a non-profit organisation displayed on their team jersey.
The SSM logo will be displayed prominently on the back of the team jersey throughout the entire season.
“It is an honour for the club to partner with SSM this season,” said Real Chukai FC chief executive officer Amirrul Hakim.
“We are constantly inspired by SSM’s tireless work for our sporting community and are proud to support their initiatives to empower youth through football and sports.”
In addition to the jersey branding, Real Chukai FC said they will have extensive activations with SSM throughout the 2023 season.
These activations are targeted at the youth academy, providing coaches and parents the needed training and insights to ensure a safe and conducive environment for the development of young participants.
Coaches from Real Chukai’s amateur sports partners - rugby and arm-wrestling – will also be attending SSM events and supporting the programme throughout the year.
