THE Ministry of Education (MOE) has temporarily reassigned the principal, senior assistant for student affairs, and all wardens of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha to the Sabah State Education Department (JPN Sabah) pending the outcome of a police investigation into the death of student Zara Qairina.
In a statement, the ministry said the decision follows the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) announcement that a Special Task Force from Bukit Aman has taken over the case.
“MOE will extend its full cooperation to the authorities to ensure a thorough, meticulous and comprehensive investigation is carried out,” it said.
“The case is currently the ministry’s top priority,” it added.
MOE expressed hope that a transparent and full investigation would be conducted in the interest of justice for the family and all parties involved. - August 13, 2025
