PERAK DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) has dismissed accusations by PAS Youth Selangor that its national chief, Woo Kah Leong (pic), insulted PAS Mursyidul Am Datuk Hashim Jasin while he was undergoing medical treatment, describing the claims as malicious and factually misleading.
Perak DAPSY Publicity Secretary Koh Ling Xian said the allegations amounted to deliberate slander aimed at confusing the public.
He said the narrative being pushed by PAS Youth Selangor was fundamentally untrue and contradicted the actual timeline.
"The statement by the National DAPSY Chief was issued on 15 November, while the announcement by PAS Youth regarding the condition of the Mursyidul Am was only made four days later, on 19 November.
"Accusing as though the statement was issued ‘while the Mursyidul Am was being treated’ is clearly a distortion," he said in a statement on Saturday.
Ling Xian added that if PAS Youth Selangor truly upheld its self-proclaimed Budaya Politik Matang dan Sejahtera (BPMS), it should adhere to facts and accurate chronology rather than emotions or “false narratives”.
He argued that ignoring facts while continuing to attack DAP exposed a contradiction between PAS’s political slogan and its actual conduct.
He further claimed that slander was not new within PAS, citing previous incidents involving the party’s leaders.
Addressing the issue of political satire, Ling Xian said that satire directed at political leaders is a normal part of political discourse and should not be equated with direct insults to the public. He urged PAS to stop diverting issues and using DAP as a convenient scapegoat.
"The sarcastic remark about Gardenia bread was clearly a direct insult to the people. If mocking the public is considered acceptable but satire towards political leaders is labelled as disrespectful, that is clearly double standards.
"Focus on governance, resolve internal conflicts and issues with Bersatu, and prove your capability through performance, not rhetoric," he said.
He added that DAPSY Perak fully expressed its solidarity with Kah Leong and condemned PAS Youth for what he described as unfounded smear attempts.
On Friday, news reports cited that PAS Youth Selangor had criticised what it described as the “rude behaviour” of Kah Leong, accusing him of insulting Hashim Jasin through an inappropriate poster circulated while the PAS spiritual leader was receiving treatment in hospital.
Its chief, Mohamed Sukri Omar, said such behaviour was shameful and reflected an “uncivilised political culture” among young leaders.
Following this, PAS Youth Selangor together with Siswa PAS submitted a protest memorandum at the DAP office, asserting that Malaysian politics must be built on decorum, argument and responsibility rather than “cheap provocation”. - November 22, 2025
