THE fate of 1,120 stalled homes at Residensi Wilayah Salak Selatan will come under scrutiny in the Dewan Rakyat today, with the government facing questions over its rescue plan and whether a replacement developer will be appointed if the proposed recovery arrangement fails.
Fong Kui Lun (PH-Bukit Bintang) will ask the Housing and Local Government Ministry to explain the measures being taken to revive the project, including the possibility of appointing a rescue developer.
The issue will be among several matters raised during question time, alongside the proposed Anti-Rent-Seeking Act, Malaysia’s diplomatic efforts over Gaza and preparations for workforce disruption caused by artificial intelligence (AI).
Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) will seek an update from the Economy Minister on the proposed Anti-Rent-Seeking Act and its timeline for tabling in Parliament to curb “Ali Baba” licensing practices, in which licence holders allow other parties to operate using their licences.
Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman (PN-Sik) will ask the Foreign Minister about Malaysia’s diplomatic efforts at the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to sustain the Gaza ceasefire and ensure humanitarian aid continues reaching Palestinians.
Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH-Tebrau) will raise preparations for workforce transitions amid AI-driven disruption, while Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) will seek answers on median wages and graduates working in jobs below their qualifications.
Other questions will cover the future of the Tabung Pahlawan, assistance for people's religious schools in 2026, agricultural input costs and scrub fires on Pulau Bruit, Sarawak.
After question time, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to table a motion to appoint four MPs to the Parliamentary Services Council under Section 3(2)(f) of the Parliamentary Services Act 2025.
The proposed members are Ramkarpal Singh (PH-Bukit Gelugor) and Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (BN-Simpang Renggam) from the government bloc, and Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran) and Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu) from the opposition.
The House will then continue debating the Supply Bill 2027 at the policy stage, following the tabling of Budget 2027 by Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, last Friday.
The policy-stage debate is scheduled to run until Oct 22, followed by four days of ministerial winding-up speeches beginning Oct 26. - October 14, 2026
