FORMER US president Donald Trump was injured when a gunman opened fire at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, reports said.

The gunman and a member of the audience were killed while another spectator was said to be critically wounded.

Pictures from the scene showed Trump bleeding in his face as he was whisked away by Secret Service agents.

Trump was shown raising his fist to the crowd as he was helped into a vehicle and driven away.

Law enforcement officials told reporters the shooting was an attempted assassination.

Reports said Trump was mid-sentence when shots rang out and terrified screams filled the air.

The 45th president dove to the ground with blood pouring from his ear. Seconds later, the blood-covered lawmaker pumped his fist in the air to indicate he was fine while surrounded by Secret Service agents.

President Joe Biden said in a statement he was “grateful” Trump is safe. – July 14, 2024.
